Janelle Owen

Janelle lives in Orbost and is a Wemba Wemba descendent. Janelle learnt basketry while undertaking the Koori Art and Design course through the East Gippsland Institute of TAFE. Janelle enjoys locating grasses in the local bush and uses both traditional and unique methods to make a range of baskets. She includes coloured raffia in her smaller baskets and decorates the lids with gum nuts. Janelle enjoys teaching basketry at local schools but is keen to improve and expand her skills.
